Thales UK Graduates Support Family Days Across the Country

There have been various Family Days held at Thales UK sites up and down the country. Intended as an opportunity to encourage employees to bring their family and friends to get a taste of what they do at Thales and to see some of the products we produce, these days have been very well attended. Most recently, Crawley and Cheadle hosted Family Days during June 2015, both of which were a massive success and combined welcomed over 2,600 visitors. Other sites to have held Family Days in recent years are Glasgow, Templecombe and Cheadle, all of which were incredibly successful with a clear appetite for more.  Each Family Day requires a number of volunteers, including many graduates, apprentices and interns; without their help it wouldn’t be possible.

Read on to find out more about the previous Family Days that have taken place across Thales UK sites in recent months.

Glasgow
The Thales Glasgow site held an extremely successful family day in August 2014.  The site was open to staff members and their families for a full day that offered the chance to see exciting products up close and personal, such as our famous Canadian Periscopes.

Belfast
Belfast held an unusual Family Day as it wasn’t in their normal place of work. The event was held at “Titanic Belfast”, the birth place of the Titanic, itself an outstanding example of engineering.  There were over 850 visitors to the event and they all enjoyed a tour around the famous exhibition.  Boat trips on the River Lagan and bouncy castles were provided throughout the day for the children (and adults alike!).  The day was made possible by the help of many volunteers from Thales Belfast and was enjoyed by all.

Cheadle Heath
Cheadle showcased the innovative technology hub work that is undertaken at the site, delivering significant projects to a wide range of customers.

The team arranged for engaging demonstrations of a number of projects, including submarine sonar, autonomous unmanned mine hunters, power station control, tram simulation, Network Rail traffic management, National Traffic Information Services, Network Rail Online Journey Planner and Intelligent Infrastructure Management.  Graduates gave demonstrations of equipment, promoting the range of Emerging Talent Programmes (such as apprenticeships, internships and graduate
