#ThalesArduino: Vote for your favourite now

The project, which is part of Thales’s Early Careers recruitment activity, encourages engineering students who are studying at a number of universities in both countries, to put their skills into creatively developing an Arduino based concept. The one rule:  it must be in some way innovatively related to Thales and its markets.

After having been taught how to use an Arduino, the students that attended the campus based workshops were asked to get creative and come up with their own projects, before uploading an explanatory video of the competition website. The outcomes in previous years have ranged from a augmented reality transport app, an inflight entertainment system that reacts to user alertness and a smartphone controlled hovercraft.

Last year’s winning team, from the University of Exeter in the UK, developed a smart door locking system with partner smartphone application, demonstrating the high level of creativity seen every year.

After an extremely tough competition, the top two projects in the UK and top two in the US this year have now been selected and these project videos have now opened up to public voting. These four videos will battle it out to be crowned this year’s overall winner based on the public vote, with the winning team receiving a Pebble smart watch.
