National rail network modernisation with ETCS
To ensure punctuality, increase capacity and reduce operating costs, Denmark is modernising signalling across its entire network. This is the world’s largest re-signalling scheme to be delivered as a single project and Thales is responsible for the largest part of it. The programme encompasses deployment of ETCS Level 2, interlockings and rail field elements across 1,200km of track and 140 railway stations. Thales is managing the turnkey project with Strukton Rail.
Nationwide fare collection
Denmark’s nationwide integrated fare management system is based on contactless technology. 3,300 buses have been equipped with on-board validators, 296 stations with ticketing equipment and 1,700 terminals have been provided for inspectors. As well as offering easy journeys for passengers, the solution reduces operator costs and provides data to support planning and marketing.
