    We are currently looking for a Principal
    Systems Architect to join the Thales Engineering team in Irvine, CA.

     

    The Principal Systems Architect will be responsible for the following areas: In-Flight Entertainment & Connectivity systems specifications, design and support to integration, troubleshooting, validation & verifications. The systems design area includes systems-level requirement definitions using Scaled Agile Framework practices and tools (VersionOne, jama, Confluence, JIRA), systems architecture analysis through modeling and simulation (Exata, …) and the generation of respective documentation working with all Engineering disciplines (TeamCenter). It may include writing Statement of Work for third party suppliers and coordinating design teams and 3rd party suppliers. The job also consists in analyzing existing architectures for adding new features, services or devices.

     Key Responsibilities:

     

    1.        Plans, coordinates, and organizes phases of the project to completion; utilizes schedules to organize and understand his/her project tasks and manages them throughout the system design and verification phases.

    2.      Commits on schedule and budget constraints for the projects s/he is responsible for.

    3.       Identifies and resolves potential problems before they occur therefore minimizing the impact to schedule and cost.

    4.      Generates documentation for each respective phase.  The definition phase includes the following documentation: Systems Requirements Specification, Interface Control Documentation, Modeling and Simulation Documentation.

    5.      Exercises a high degree of initiative and independent judgment in coordinating his/her work with peer personnel within the group and external groups as well.

    6.      Provides recommendations for determining technical and long-range goals.

    7.      Manages, documents, and ensures product compliance with customer requirements.

    8.      Conducts systems design reviews and actively participates in hardware/software peer reviews.

    9.      In post-delivery support, assists with problem isolation/identific

     

    Required Skills and Experience:

     

    ·         BSEE or BSCS with 10 years of experience in related fields is required.

    ·         Design skills in audio, video, multimedia, secure IP networks and embedded

    ·         systems.

    ·         Programming and simulation skills.

    ·         Knowledge of audio & video streaming and IPTV technologies.

    ·         Knowledge of computer and network security, encryption standards, key

    ·         management and electronic payment technologies.

    ·         Knowledge of WAN, LAN, wireless data communications (Wi-Fi, WiMAX,

    ·         Bluetooth), cellular telephony (UMTS, CDMA, 3G, EV-DO, LTE…), satellite

    ·         communications (Inmarsat).

    We are currently looking for a
    Principal Systems Engineer - Network Management to join the Thales Systems Engineering team in Irvine, CA.

     

    The Principal Systems Engineer - Network Management will be responsible for the systems specification, design and support to integration, verification, troubleshooting & test of our Network Management (NM) Functions across the In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity solutions.  The NM System Architect will define requirements, analyze existing architectures and propose cost-effective enhancements leveraging industry standards when appropriate.  This role interfaces with others in the Engineering organization, Product Line Management as well as the Customer Support team. It may also include writing Statement of Work for third party suppliers and coordinating design teams and 3rd party suppliers. The job requires experience in large scale SNMP managed systems, secure TCP/IP data networks as well as knowledge of aircraft interfaces, cabin entertainment and communications equipment (Wifi, WIMAX, GSM…). BSEE or BSCS with 10 years’ experience in related fields is required

    ·         Deep understanding in the architecture and design of large scale systems that are managed standards based network management functions (NMS, OMC, SNMP) typically in use in Telecom, IT and Cable industries.

    ·         Deep experience of ISO Network Management Model for Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance, Security (FCAPS) from both functionality, design and Open-source solutions.

    ·         Functional modeling, System Architecture and performance simulation skills.

    ·         Experience with computer and network security, encryption standards, key management and credit card data management technologies.

     

     

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

     

    ·         Knowledge of System Engineering Practices (Requirement capture, Architecture, Design-to-Test).

    ·         Knowledge of Agile engineering practices (Scrum, SAFe, and Incremental).
