    We are currently looking for a Principal Systems Engineer to join the Thales Systems Engineering team in Irvine, CA.

     

    The Principal Systems Engineer will be responsible for providing technical oversight and leadership within Thales InFlyt Experience as part of the organization that fulfils the Design Authority (DA), Design Authority Product Line (DAPL) and acting Project Design Authority roles.  Serve in a leadership role for the development and implementation of the Design Authority (DA Role, PDA Role) Network in Thales InFlyt both in Irvine as well as Melbourne in accordance with Chorus 2.0.  Participate in the identification and investigation of innovative technologies applicable to the IFEC business.  Assist Product Line Management in defining and evolving product policy (DAPL Role) especially with respect to software related products.  Represent the technical leadership of Thales to Aircraft Manufacturers, existing and future customers, and various Industry Forums.  Provide technical support to the pursuit of new business opportunities for Thales InFlyt Experience. 

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    ·         Serve as a Design Authority as defined in Chorus 2 with a specialty in Software definition, design, implementation, and test.  Participate in the Design Authority network including the development and evolution of the Design Authority (DA) and Project Design Authority (PDA) roles.  Review the technical solutions proposed on bids in accordance with the role of Design Authority.

     

    ·         Identify issues related to product development and technical solutions being applied to programs and call for special reviews and/or meetings to discuss and evaluation these solutions. 

     

    ·         Provide technical support and guidance for proposals, internal and external product development, supplier evaluation and selection, and other business related activities.

     

    ·         Identification of technologies desired by airline customers and evaluation of the impact these technologies may have on commercial aircraft.  Assist in identifying the skills that will be required to pursue the incorporation of these technologies into our systems.

     

    ·         Participate in the development, enhancement, and implementation of effective processes within Thales InFlyt Experience.  Assist in identifying and resolving technical conflicts or inconsistencies within or between various Thales InFlyt Experience organizations. 

     

    ·         Participate in Technical Discussions with Aircraft Manufacturers (e.g. Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, etc.) on topics related to new or existing entertainment software or systems on new or existing aircraft models. 

     

    ·         Represent the senior technical leadership of Thales Irvine to Airframe Manufacturers, existing or potential customers, and industry forums.  This includes the preparation and/or presentation of technical materials to these bodies. 

     

    Required Skills and Experience:

     

    ·         This position requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a science related field such as Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science.

    ·         This position requires experience in defining, designing, testing, installing, and troubleshooting software and systems. 

    ·         This position requires experience in recognizing different solutions to technical problems and evaluating the merits of each solution as it addresses the problem being solved. 

    ·         This position requires and ability to speak knowledgably and comfortably with piers.

    ·          This position also requires the ability to speak comfortably with people who are not experts in the field and to present technical information in a simple and easy to understand way.

    ·         Travel both domestic and international is expected to be supported from 10 to 25% of the time.

     

     

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

     

    This position requires knowledge of the tools required to produce documents such as specifications, white papers, and presentations.  Experience in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are fundamental.  This position requires experience in evaluating technical approaches and designs.  This position requires a command of both written and spoken forms the English language.  This position requires the holder to be comfortable in presenting technical approaches and concepts to audiences with a wide range of background and knowledge.

    We are currently looking for a Senior Consultant,ASG to join the Thales e-Security team in Plantation, FL.
     
    The Senior Consultant, ASG is a customer facing role responsible for the development of customer project requirements documents, solution specifications, project component development and delivery, solution installation, and customer training.  The role of Senior Consultant is a critical component of the Advanced Solutions Group. ASG Senior Consultants use their advanced cryptographic technical skills to create competitive advantage for Thales sales teams, create added value for Thales customers, and develop Thales intellectual property in the form of reusable code, processes, and documents.
     

    Essential/Key Areas of Responsibility

    • Development, jointly with customers and with internal subject matter experts, of customer requirements documents
    • Assisting team architects in specifying and documenting proposed custom cryptographic solutions based on Thales products
    • Developing in depth knowledge of Thales products and core cryptographic technology
    • Developing detailed project plans utilizing standard Thales documentation based on the ASG methodology
    • Preparation and management of project documentation
    • Installation of Thales products and training of customers in their proper utilization
    • Participation in project delivery including management of internal development deliverables and customer deliverables
    • Assisting Thales sales teams in development of project opportunities into properly documented projects and deliverables.
    • Development and delivery of key project deliverables which may include custom code, project documentation, and project/engagement reports

    Technical Knowledge/Skills & Experience Required
     
    • Minimum of 7 + years of experience with information security technology and processes, specifically cryptography
    • Familiarity with cryptographic concepts, public key exchange, digital signature and data communications, TCP/IP, required
    • Solid working knowledge of  Linux, Solaris, other Unix variants (e.g. AIX, HP/UX) and MS Windows operating systems
    • Solid networking experience with a back ground in TCP/IP networks required
    • Computer hardware trouble shooting experience required
    • Working knowledge of core cryptographic concepts required. Specifically, ability to use, explain, and teach to standard crypto interfaces (e.g. PKCS#11, CAPI/CNG CHIL) is required
    • Solid working knowledge of web and application servers (Apache, ISS); Certificate Authorities(MS, CA, RSACM)
    • Good basic programming skills in a modern programming language, e.g. Java, C++, C#
    • Solid working understanding of core cryptographic technologies and concepts
    • Demonstrable experience working in a stand-alone role (specifically customer facing)
    • A working knowledge of standardized project management techniques.
    • Articulate in both written and verbal communication

    Roles and Responsibilities:
    We are looking for a principal software engineer with strong experience in developing enterprise software products and solutions for deployment in public, private and hybrid clouds.
    The ideal candidate will have proven hands-on experience developing products that are either offered as service leveraging Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) or sold to IaaS or Software as a Service provider (SaaS) enabling these providers to offer a service:
    • Work closely with the broader engineering community, product management and cloud business development leaders/teams to define, design, implement and bring to market data security solutions based on Vormetric Data Security products.
    • Design and develop SaaS solutions at Vormetric. Leading from the front, this person will cover all aspects of launching hosted solutions that integrates with SaaS vendors.
    • Coach and mentor other engineers in SaaS development methodology.
    • Impart Cloud best practices across Vormetric product line.
    • Develop cloud service web portals and infrastructure engineering solutions for deploying Vormetric Data Security products in cloud service ecosystems. Examples of cloud service providers include Amazon Web Services, Rackspace, Savvis as well as SaaS providers such as Box.net, AtTask, Pegasystems and other emerging service providers
    • When required, partner with service provider engineering/operations teams to educate them on Vormetric Data Security solutions, how they can be deployed as a data security service and seamlessly integrate and conform to their security practices.
    • Develop high level technical documentation for consumption by technical writers (product documentation), marketing collateral and technical briefs.
    • Keep pace with industry trends in cloud computing
    • Provide weekly status updates to the engineering director, keeping him/her abreast of product deliverables, product launch status/metrics, operational issues etc. and seek his/her guidance where necessary to resolve and track issues to closure.
       
      Requirements:
    • 8-10 years of experience as a hands-on engineer developing SW products and solutions for service oriented deployment in public or private clouds. Products/services must have demonstrable market share/customer installed base.
    • Must have launched or developed complex software projects with multiple complex features with short release cycles.
    • Experience with agile development methodologies (SCRUM, Lean methodologies)
    • Expertise in J2EE, with demonstrated focus on “Cloud-first” design principles like multi-tenant, continuous integration/deployment, test driven development.
    • Demonstrated product development experience with High Availability, Scale and highly performant systems.    
    • Experience in NoSQL databases like MongoDB. Working knowledge of databases/database schema designs in (MySQL, PostGres etc.). Able to determine the appropriate database design for a product line.
    • Significant experience in JSON, XML, Web services (SOAP/REST), caching strategies
    • Working knowledge of development using scripting languages (e.g. JavaScript, Python, Django, Perl, CSS3, HTML5, JQuery)
    • Familiarity with data security and networking concepts (Encryption, SSL, SSH, HTTPS, DNS, Firewalls)
    • Demonstrated high quality focus, and demonstrable scenarios of Test Driven Development.
    • Prior experience with “Data as an asset” methodologies
    • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
