Les systèmes de navigation autonome (système de navigation inertielle, connu également sous le nom d’ADIRU) reposent sur une UMI (Unité de Mesure Inertielle) fabriquée par Thales avec les technologies RLG (Ring Laser Gyro). Ce produit est un concentré de hautes technologies avec des performances adaptées à toutes les applications aéronautiques mais aussi terrestres et maritimes. Très compacte, elle embarque néanmoins 3 gyrolasers et 3 accéléromètres en un système optimisé pour garantir la performance et augmenter sa durée de vie.
Une architecture unique pour de la très haute performance
Son architecture est unique au monde avec 2 canaux d’informations au lieu d’un seul communément. Une voie « navigation » est dédiée au calcul des attitudes, cap, vitesse et position. L’autre voie dite de “stabilisation” est optimisée pour fournir des accélérations et rotations à faible retard, faible bruit et sans aucune fréquence indésirable dans la bande passante recherchée par les commandes de vol électriques ou les asservissements des instruments de visée optique embarqués.
Déjà à bord d’Ariane 5, du Mirage 2000 et de l’A350 XWB
L’histoire de la navigation inertielle chez Thales a débuté il y a plus de 30 ans et de nombreuses plateformes embarquent des systèmes inertiels (Mirage 2000, Ariane 5, hélicoptères Tigre, C130, MIG29, etc.). Plus récemment, ce sont les A350 XWB d’Airbus, les ATR-600 et les KC-390 d’Embraer qui ont sélectionné ces systèmes. En 2016, TopAxyz IMU a été sélectionnée pour être embarquée sur les véhicules blindés Jaguar.
