Local cooperation

Thales has been developing its presence in Austria for over 30 years through local collaborations within its core markets of defence, aerospace and digital identity and security.

In the aim of urgent blood delivery for the Austrian Red Cross, Thales took part in an Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) in close cooperation with the FH Johanneum University and EHang. Thales was able to support this project thanks to its ScaleFlyt solutions for identifying drones with remote ID and secure flight management via the digital service platform SOARIZON.

In 2018, HeliAir, the technology division of ÖAMTC Air Rescue, entered into a strategic and innovative partnership with Thales aiming at developing the AFCS Autopilot from Thales in order to integrate it on the EC135 and use it in real operation.

Defence

Thales supplies the Austrian Defence & Security institutions with several optronic, communication and radar solutions. The optronic solutions from SOPHIE family help the Austrian forces get the most reliable picture of the situation and gain tactical superiority. MINIE and LUCIE night vision goggles combine lightness, comfort and wide field for reducing the soldier's burden during critical situations.

Thales tactical line-of-sight radios have been successfully used by the Austrian Armed Forces in EU and international missions, for instance to secure the Davos conference in cooperation with the Swiss Armed Forces. The Austrian armed forces trust in the tactical radios from Thales, including the manheld software defined radio (SDR) solution Squadnet and line-of-sight solutions.

For effective air surveillance, the Austrian security relies on Thales AZR Ground Surveillance Radars.

Digital Identity & Security

Using global synergies in cybersecurity expertise, Thales offers a broad solution to counter threats in the digital world. From data encryption, Big Data analysis and Threat Intelligence up to operational solutions, such as operational cybersecurity centres. Based on the requirements of each customer, Thales designs solutions that enable decision-makers to pro-actively master ever greater complexity even in critical situations. Several Thales e-Security Solutions are in use in Austria to ensure cybersecure data exchanges. Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), key management tools as well as data encryption solutions provide customers with a high level of data security.
