    CYGNUS, international_space_station, module_cargo_pressuris?, PCM, pressurized_cargo_module, spacecraft, station_spatiale_internationale, TAS, Thales_Alenia_Space, vaisseau, The latest Cygnus spacecraft to deliver cargo to the International Space Station (ISS) has been successfully launched by an Antares rocket from Wallops Island, Virginia at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, on its eighth operational mission. The Cygnus spacecraft comprises two main sections: the Service Module from orbitl ATK, and the enhanced Pressurized Cargo Module (PCM), developed and built by Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%).

Stratobus is a concept for an autonomous stratospheric platform midway between a satellite and a drone. The program led by Thales Alenia Space as prime contractor is being carried out with a group of partners including Zodiac Marine and CEA-Liten. Stratobus has been endorsed by the Pegase competitiveness cluster in charge of launching a dirigible industry in France.

    COPERNICUS, EARTH, Environment, ESA, EU, European-Space-Agency, Global, Monitoring, observation, oceanography, sentinel, Sentinel-3, THALES ALENIA SPACE, Sentinel-3's mission covers oceanography, continental hydrology and monitoring of vegetation on land. Comprising 4 satellites (Sentinel-3A, -3B, -3C and -3D), Sentinel-3's mission is part of the European program Copernicus. Within the scope of Copernicus, Thales Alenia Space is prime contractor for the Sentinel-1 and -3 missions (each including 4 satellites), and will also provide the ground segment on the second mission, and two instruments for Sentinel-6. Sentinel-3A was successfully orbitd in February 2016.

    ATLAS, ELI-NP, IFIN-HH, Laser, physics, roumania, Thales has signed a contract with the IFIN-HH including the development of a laser system with a 2x10 PetaWatt world record power. This laser will be installed in a 2400 sqm clean room at the heart of a gigantic and unique nuclear physics research center, currently under construction in Magurôle, Romania. 48 pump lasers including 16 ATLAS 100 lasers will be manufactured and integrated into the system to amplify the laser beam and reach an energy level superior to 300J compatible with a 10 PW power.
