Robotics and Drones

Thales has the expertise required to effectively integrate unmanned air and ground vehicles into the command and control systems of battlefield operations and to operate them in optimum safety conditions.

Military leaders know that to win certain types of conflict, symmetrical conflicts for example, they need to create "mass effects" to dominate the enemy through a "superior presence".

For missions that do not require the unique capabilities of humans, for missions that are impossible for humans or for operations that are simply too risky, ground robots or aerial drones, used independently or jointly, in swarms or not, are an alternative that is increasingly being considered by military ministries.

Thales has the expertise required to effectively integrate unmanned air and ground vehicles into the command and control systems of battlefield operations and to operate them in optimum safety conditions.

Thales unmanned systems include UAVs - unmanned aerial vehicles, more commonly known as drones, UGVs - unmanned ground vehicles, their associated payloads and LMs- loitering munitions.

Our solutions

Spy'Ranger 330 and 550 fixed wing contact drones

The Spy'Ranger contact drones have proved their worth in combat. As part of the French SMDR (Systèmes de Mini-Drones de Reconnaissance) programme, the Spy'Ranger 330s have carried out numerous missions alongside French forces since the end of 2020, contributing to the success of military operations and protecting soldiers during the French Barkhane operation in Mali.

Spy'Ranger X40 and X100 VTOL contact drones

The Spy'Ranger X40 and Spy'Ranger X100 benefit directly from developments and operational experience of the Spy'Ranger 330 and Spy'Ranger 550. They are fixed-wing UAV systems with vertical take-off and landing. They can fulfil several objectives in a single mission and combine the effects of their payloads for greater effectiveness.

Loitering munitions

Operational superiority in high-intensity combat is the result of a combination of manoeuvres involving dismounted and embarked units supported by contact UAVs and loitering munitions (LM) engaged individually or in packs.
