|X-ray imaging is widely used in industry, with X-ray sources and detectors a key component in quality inspection systems on high volume production lines.
Building on our long experience in medical radiology, Thales offers a broad choice of proven solutions to the agrifoods, metallurgy and electronics industries.
As the world’s largest OEM supplier of X-ray imaging components, Thales brings technology, experience and innovation to the industrial sector, with a selection of X-ray tubes and X-ray detectors.
X-ray Generation and Detection
|Thales’s X-ray generator tubes are used in many different industrial applications, including welding and casting inspection, thickness gauging, tomography/CT scanner as well as for cargo inspection and food sterilisation.
Thales’s klystrons are used in cargo inspection systems based on linear accelerators which are used to inspect merchandise, and even to detect and analyse the presence of specific materials such as heavy metals, explosives and drugs.
Current sterilisation techniques, such as pasteurisation or radioactivity, are undergoing a major revolution with the advent of electron beam irradiation. This new technology, safer and more environmentally friendly, uses very-highefficiency particle accelerators based on klystrons or tetrodes by Thales. This process is used by various industries to enhance food preservation, restructure polymers or sterilise medical products, safely and efficiently.
Thales offers OEMs a complete range of solutions, based either on digital flat panels or on X-ray image intensifiers. FlashScan flat panels are easy to integrate into both stationary and mobile systems. They provide real-time imaging for the inspection of metallic parts and artwork screening, as well as outdoor inspection of pipelines, etc.
|Radiological Imaging Units are designed for on and off-line quality inspection in many types of industry. Thales’s products are known for their high performance with regards to excellent image quality and long lifetime.
The new family of high power X-ray tubes assures small focal spots for: a higher resolution, a better contrast, a higher level of detection, a higher speed of digital imaging. These factors are essential for tomography and CT applications.
Thales is continuously evolving with the current and future needs of its customers.
