Thales has developed considerable experience in the field of secure mobile communications. Some examples are given below.

Thales can draw on expertise that is peerless worldwide, with a whole host of success stories. Here are some of the most outstanding ones:

Security for business telephony: Through a strategic partnership, Thales develops and supplies the embedded security layer for the OmniPCX Enterprise business IP telephony systems marketed by Alcatel-Lucent. This includes the infrastructure and the software of the terminals themselves. By the end of 2011, there were over 1,200,000 terminals benefiting from these technologies in businesses the world over, with the extremely high availability and quality of service requirements that this entails.

Security for governmental mobile phones: The TEOREM project, developed by Thales in the framework of a contract with the DGA (French government defence procurement agency), on behalf of the general secretariat for defence and national security (SGDSN) and the Defence Staff (EMA), aims to equip with encrypted telephones the higher authorities of State, the Armed Forces and the various ministries that deal with classified defence information. The DGA has ordered over 14,000 terminals, including 7000 for the Armed Forces.

Security teams in IT departments worldwide: As well as the R&D teams in charge of the solutions described above, Thales also has teams with internationally recognised expertise in the field of so-called "ethical" hacking, for the detection and analysis of vulnerabilities, and whose work often features in publications.
