Thales has been a Champion of the introduction of ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) since the very earliest days of its establishment and has been at the forefront of the adoption of the European Standards (TSIs) and their implementation. Projects such as the HSL Zuid in the Netherlands and more recently the total national network of Denmark, Thales has been instrumental and has demonstrated through its technical “know-how” working in close partnership with its clients to bring these projects to successful operational service. This implementation has been supported by a 24/7 Service Centre designed to guarantee service continuity by the close monitoring of track and traffic and providing dedicated solutions for both maintenance and control.
The ERTMS system is designed to facilitate greater capacity on the network which introduces some vulnerability also. Thales is extremely well equipped to guarantee Cyber Security through its State-of-the Art the Security Operating Centre (SOC) collaborating with the different business lines within Thales. Great care is taken to ensure Thales staff are fully trained and technically competent by using the comprehensive educational programmes offered by the Thales University and by facilitating staff exchange between Thales offices to expand experiences. Finally, Thales has a great awareness and appreciation of the working environment and is able to offer significant energy savings opportunities through the European Traffic Management System, thus providing a positive impact to Society and the enhancing the Quality of Life.
