Thales goes digital at CANSEC 2016

CANSEC has been held annually in Ottawa since 1998 by the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI).  It is Canada’s largest defence and security exhibition with over 11,000 attendees, over 330 exhibiting companies and 700 booths. 

Thales was a proud participant and sponsor of CANSEC 2016, with not only a booth featuring a highly digital and interactive display, but also a big announcement in partnership with Seaspan.
The Thales booth was 180 sqm and featured equipment that focused on Thales Canada’s Army and Naval capabilities. Thales’ presence at CANSEC showcased its leadership in R&D investment and innovation in Canada with a booth that highlighted products and capabilities from DMS/TNL, DMS/TUS, LAS/TNL, TDSI, DMS/UK, LAS/UK, and DMS/Canada and SIX/Canada. (Land Operations, Maritime Safety & Security Operations, Naval Defence Operations including under water systems).

Thales’ booth this year featured interactive tablets where visitors could look at product sheets and/or demos including:

• Commander C3: Maritime Mission Management System
• TACTICOS: CMS for combat operations and maritime security operations
• Collaboration Table: real time, collaborative, operational and intelligence planning
• Crowdstack:  transforming big data sources into meaningful intelligence
• SoldierView: intuitive battle management system
• TBMS: Tactical battle management system
• VMSCS: vehicle mounted surveillance control system
• SYnRGY: training and simulation
• Thales Connected Police Officer
• Services: supportability engineering, material resource management, support resource planning, supportability data fusion

Also on display was Optronics uncooled thermal imaging products.

Thales Canada’s presence at CANSEC was prominent as Mark Halinaty, Thales Canada Inc CEO kicked off the exhibition by introducing the Canadian Chief of the Defence Staff, Jonathan Vance at the CADSI breakfast, followed by Thales Canada’s check presentation to the True Patriot Love foundation. Thales’ booth also attracted government delegates such as French Ambassador Nicolas Chapuis who stopped by on day one.
