The new Thales DBAS E4 detector provides an output corresponding to vehicle type (European classification scheme without axle sensor), speed and length from a single standard loop per lane. It also provides information on lane occupancy and intervehicle gap.
The detector is of an innovative design that uses a patented embedded digital signal processor to compare the loop detector output for each passing vehicle with a calibrated signature.
Whereas conventional two lane detector installations require four loops and two axle detectors, the DBAS E4 performs the same traffic measurements with only two loops reducing the installation civil work cost to the minimum.
The DBAS E4 is a state of the art detector providing a reliable, precise and cost effective solution for providing accurate traffic information. It is packaged on a standard 100 x 160mm Eurocard module.
