At a time when digital technologies are increasingly shaping the battlefield of the future, the need for armed forces to boost their intelligence-gathering capability is becoming ever more acute. For units deployed in the demanding conditions of the theater of operations, having the technology to gain an understanding of the terrain and the forces in the field is absolutely vital.
The contract, signed by the end of March 2019 by Thales and the Federal Office for Defence Procurement (Armasuisse) calls for supply of the elements of an IMINT image intelligence centre. Deliveries will begin in early 2020. Built around the Thales MINDS / SAIM system, the platform will enable capture, analysis and optimal exploitation of all types of imagery data. It will be completely virtualised to facilitate integration with the customer’s existing infrastructure, and will incorporate the most advanced AI technologies to take image data analysis to a new level, thus enabling the most relevant intelligence to be distributed to the Swiss authorities, so they can make the right decisions.
At the end of 2018, the first ship from the Mexican Navy’s new POLA (Patrullera Oceanica de Largo Alcance) class, ARM Reformador, was launched at the ASTIMAR-20 shipyard in Salina Cruz, Mexico. Thales joins with the Mexican Navy in celebrating this key milestone and is proud to support the Mexican Navy in its ambition to safeguard Mexican territorial waters.
