The James Webb Space Telescope unveils its first image!

December 25, 2021, the JWST (James Webb Space Telescope) has been launched into space on the "Ariane 5" rocket, including 2 Thales Traveling Wave Tubes (TH 4626C 26 GHz).

JWST is the most powerful space observatory ever built. Well will observe all phases in cosmic history, looking for the first stars and galaxies to be formed, as well as all forms of life, while also studying the evolution of galaxies and how current stars and planets came to be.

Today, the first image taken by the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) was unveiled. Showing thousands of galaxies formed soon after the Big Bang more than 13 billion years ago.

The James Webb Space Telescope observes in the infrared domain thanks to very powerful cameras, and directly from Space. After traveling such a long way, the light stretched from the visible spectrum to infrared, a wavelength invisible to human eyes, but not to telescope ones. This image is considered to be the most distant and sharpest ever taken of our Universe in infrared.
