Thanks to John Croft (@AvWeekJC) for an excellent status update on Aireon’s progress in validating and preparing their space-based ADS-B service. This service is a great example of how digital disruption is changing the aviation industry. We are proud to work with Aireon to prepare Thales ANS.
Aircraft tracking data (blue lines) from eight Aireon payloads in one orbital plane over a 24-hr. period reveal “dead zones” (diamond shapes) in the North Atlantic, a byproduct of inefficient routing caused by a lack of surveillance.
