Summit of the Big Data Value Association (BDVA), Madrid, 17-19 June 2015

Thales is taking part in the first Summit of the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) in Madrid. The event will bring together members of the European Big data community to learn about the Association's activities and projects and discuss Big data opportunities and challenges.

The BDVA was established in October 2014 at an official ceremony attended by Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission. The Association is a non-for-profit organisation set up to boost European Big data value research, development and innovation in Europe. Thales is one of its 24 founding members, which include major companies, SMEs and research organisations with an involvement in Big data technologies.

The BDVA's aims include strengthening competitiveness and ensuring industrial leadership of providers and end users of Big data value technology-based systems and services. It is working with the European Commission to establish a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) — expected in 2016 — and develop and implement a strategic roadmap for research, technological development and innovation (Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda, SRIA), to which Thales is making a major contribution.
