Thales, responsible for the railway connection at Pancorbo’s logistics terminal

Thales will provide signalling, railway security and communications solutions to the railway connection and service tracks of Bilbao Port’s new logistics terminal, in Pancorbo (Burgos), Spain. The Group’s expertise in integrating transport and security solutions for ports proved to be a key factor in Bilbao Port Authority’s selection process.

The overarching project, managed by a temporary joint venture comprising Comsa and Cycasa, will connect the future terminal to the Madrid-Hendaye line, thus facilitating the transport of goods and the area’s economic resurgence.

Thales will provide its latest-generation electronic interlocking systems for managing railway traffic within the logistics complex in Pancorbo. It will also deliver the signalling systems for two new escape routes and access to the Railway Logistics Terminal (TELOF).

This project comes shortly after Thales signed a contract with the Ferrol-San Cibrao Port Authority for the implementation of the second phase of the security, control and telecommunications systems at Ferrol’s Outer Harbour.
