Thales and OneFlick – the perfect partnership
For many, running your own small to medium business is a deeply personal matter – the business becomes part of you, and the idea of opening it up to an external company to help your business progress can be daunting, let alone partnering with an international giant like Thales. But for Australian based FinTech SME OneFlick, this was the partnership they’d been searching for.
According to OneFlick Head of Product Zachary Sanders, the vision for OneFlick is to empower humanity with seamless financial technology – with the company’s core developments and products transforming smart devices into ultimate financial management solutions.
“OneFlick came about through necessity,” Mr Sanders says. “We saw the way people received invoices and made payments, ourselves included, and it was all very complex and convoluted. There were so many vulnerabilities in each process where things could go wrong for the businesses involved, and the individuals trying to remain in control of their finances.
“Things needed to change and so OneFlick was created. Since our inception we’ve continued to grow and develop legacy systems and game-changing financial technology as we all transition into a completely cashless society.”
A key product from OneFlick is BILLI – a comprehensive bill payment, management, and payment platform for consumers and businesses all on one simple dashboard. To date, BILLI is the only App in the world that can generate an invoice and receive a payment in proximity, without the need for contact details or bank details.
“Right now, with the way the world is with COVID-19, BILLI alleviates any anxiety the users may feel about having to either hand over their phone or card, or touching keypads to punch in their pin,” says Mr Sanders.
“And we’re also beginning to look at ways we can incorporate other information through that one dashboard, be it medical information or even things like your driver’s licence. It negates the need for a wallet and merges all of that information into one place. And this is where Thales comes into play for us.”
Thales’s expertise in cyber security; including data protection, transaction security, biometrics and identity management matched up perfectly with the direction OneFlick was heading, and so the team began talks with Thales Australia’s Director Analytics Michael Livingstone.
“Our engagement with OneFlick highlights the value of the acquisition of Gemalto by Thales,” says Mr Livingstone. “The ability to support transformative technology players like OneFlick via a single strategic partnership delivers an unparalleled opportunity to both parties.”
For OneFlick Head of Projects Nicholas Ang, Thales’s values and ethics perfectly aligned to the vision for OneFlick, and so, the partnership was formed.
“We’re doing this to help people,” he said. “So, it was very important to us to ensure that whoever we partnered with had the same values and Thales definitely ticked all of the boxes. When you combine that with the services they provide and where we are taking BILLI, it’s a win-win situation for us and for Thales.
“We’re extremely excited for the future with Thales, and for what we can see BILLI can do for our society here and abroad.”
