The new MRU-US in Quebec is dedicated to citizens’ well-being

Professor Sébastien Tremblay, from Laval University, is the Scientific Director of the Mixed Research Unit in Urban Science (MRU-US) located in Québec City – a partnership with Ville de Québec, Laval University, INRS and the Québec Metro High Tech Park. In this video filmed in Paris at the COP21 conference, at the Thales booth,  Professor Sébastien Tremblay explains what is the MRU-US, its guiding principles, its goals and work topics.
Combining the fields of social science, applied science, geomatics, and governance, the MRU-US is a unique research and innovation network bringing together business, government, and the academic community to develop smart and sustainable cities.
 
This urban lab in Quebec City promotes innovation and knowledge transfer, and draws on Synergy between researchers, developers and end-users, optimizing city logistics, from sustainable mobility to security. Some of the topics covered are Smart resources management (Energy, Water, Space and Infrastructure), improved governance (decision-­making, policy making and planning). The news solutions are developed from a citizen perspective.
