Thales Lifesavers
Thales and the British Heart Foundation have joined forces for the next two years to help beat heartbreak forever. The partnership will raise £200,000 to fund CPR kits and the ongoing resource and training for 170 secondary schools across the country, teaching over 25,000 pupils how to save a life.
The partnership will also be rolling out a Thales Lifesavers programme, teaching up to 7,000 Thales employees lifesaving CPR skills and empowering them to share these skills in their local communities.
To celebrate the launch of our partnership, Thales’s 10 key sites across the country turned red on 17 July 2018, holding their own red themed events, including a BBQ, BHF games and a raffle at their head office site in Green Park, Reading.
We also shared Ghayan and Jaydyn’s emotional and inspiring story, only for us to discover that Ghayan is in fact a Thales employee himself, having learnt CPR through a First Aid course at work.
We are currently working on an exciting calendar of events with our 10 fearless Thales charity ambassadors, including a fire walk, bike rides, abseils and skydives! So watch this space for more Thales news.
Speaking about the new partnership, Thales in the UK’s Chief Executive Victor Chavez says: “Too many lives are lost needlessly because people don’t have the basic CPR skills. We aim to raise £200,000 over the next two years to help the BHF create a nation of lifesavers".
Simon Gillespie, BHF CEO, commented:
“Surviving a sudden cardiac arrest is an important area of work for the BHF, and we have ambitious targets to provide CPR training to over 15 million people across the UK by 2020, but we cannot achieve these targets without the support of companies like Thales. We are delighted that Thales colleagues will be learning CPR and funding CPR training in secondary schools and community groups across the UK.
This fantastic contribution will be felt across our communities and will directly impact and improve survival rates to help save lives today”.
