Thales teams take a flying leap for Prostate Cancer UK

Twenty-six intrepid Thales employees took to the air to show their support for Prostate Cancer UK's “Men United” movement.

Taking place between 6 and 27 September 2015, across airfields in St Andrews, Lancaster & Salisbury, the events have so far raised a staggering £16,515.82 for Prostate Cancer UK.

The Thales twenty-six were inspired to get involved in this challenge when Prostate Cancer UK became Thales’s partner charity earlier this year. Throughout 2015, Thales employees are raising money to help provide Tool Kits for men, and their families, affected by prostate cancer. Each Tool Kit contains factsheets tailored to the diagnosed individual, providing information and support at what can be an incredibly difficult time.

Ahead of the jumps, Mark Bishop, Director of Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said:

“We’re really grateful for Thales’s support in the UK and it’s fantastic to see brave employees take on this challenge to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK. By doing this, they are joining Men United and helping to make a real difference in furthering the fight against the disease."

“Whatever you do together, big or small, you’ll be helping us push for real change, from more effective testing to better treatments. We thank Thales and wish those jumping every success with their challenge.”

With jumps at 11,000ft and 15,000ft, feedback from the volunteers included:

“A fantastic day”  “Absolutely loved it!”   “A surreal combination of both hurtling at speed plus peaceful calm”

“We raised a lot for a great cause!” “It was AMAZING!!!” •

Huge congratulations and thank you to all of those that took part.

Mike Seabrook, Company Secretary, Thales UK, said of the events:

The Company is amazed at the contribution the skydivers have made. We thank them for taking part and raising an incredible amount for our partner charity, Prostate Cancer UK. Every penny counts to ensuring we can fund the toolkits, a vital piece of the support Prostate Cancer UK gives to those diagnosed with, or to someone caring for a person with, prostate cancer.”
