Since 1997, Thales has been engaging in the education committee of the IHK Südthüringen (Chamber of Commerce and Industry in South Thuringia) and, during the last years, several apprentices have won the “Bildungsfuchs” award.

After the end of their apprenticeship, the hand-made glass trophy the form of a fox goes to graduates who achieve more than 87 points in their final examination. This year, Sebastian Thiem, who successfully completed his industrial electrician apprenticeship at Thales Deutschland GmbH, joined the approximately 970 apprentices who have received the award in recent decades.

This year’s title of best training company was given to Thales Deutschland GmbH in Arnstadt, which has high satisfaction rates among its apprentices. With four examiners, Thales furthermore supports the examinations in five apprenticed professions and in the field of advanced vocational training.

We are very proud and pleased to have received this award as the best training company in South Thuringia in 2021, as well as the best training qualification among all industrial electricians in the Chamber's district. Both are the reward for our long-term commitment and the promotion of our apprentices. Once more, this shows the high profile of the vocational training at Thales.

Qualified employees form the basis for our commercial success. Given the demographic development and our demand for skilled labour, the education of young people is expected to become more and more important. With our technically well-equipped training centre and the great competence of the in-house training supervisors, we will be able to cope with this challenge even in the future.

Robert Gärtner (Head of dual vocational training at Thales Arnstadt)

The vocational training takes place in close cooperation with the IHK Südthüringen vocational school, under decentralised supervision by dedicated training supervisors at the sites. The apprentices draw particular benefit from the close linking of theory and practice, as well as from the integration into varied projects with personal assistance in an international working environment. Beyond the IHK apprenticeship as an industrial electrician offered besides the apprenticeship as a mechatronics engineer at the Arnstadt site, Thales offers apprenticeships as an electronic equipment and systems engineer, IT specialist – application development, and industrial mechanic at a further five sites.
