Nearly every year since 2007, Thales saw the addition of at least one driver’s license and/or ID card contract, leading Thales to become the fastest-growing provider of driver’s license and ID card solutions in North America. As of 2023, Thales has 17 driver’s license and ID Card customers in North America; Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Maryland, New Brunswick, New Hampshire, New York, Newfoundland & Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Texas, and Wyoming.

“We're proud to see US residents benefiting from Thales technology through innovative credentials that can be used for daily purposes,” said Tony Lo Brutto, Executive Vice President for Thales Identity and Biometrics Solutions in North America. “This milestone reflects the collaborative efforts of each of our customers and Thales to provide the most secure documents that effectively prevent fraud.”

Thales offers 100% Polycarbonate cards, which cannot be altered without visibly damaging the card. In addition, the combination of sophisticated security measures with unique card designs provides multi-layered protection and helps reduce fraud. All in all it provides enhanced credential security while facilitating the verification on the field.
