Thales selected by the Indonesia’s Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) to optimise its national cyberspace security
In the first quarter of 2023, BSSN took a major step in this direction with the signing of a Memorandum-of-Understanding (MoU) with Thales, a European leader in cybersecurity and world leader in data protection. In September 2022, Indonesia passed its first data protection law, inspired by the European Union’s GDPR framework, underscoring the Republic’s attention on cybersecurity. As indicated in the Presidential Regulation No. 82 of 2022 on the Protection of Vital Information Infrastructure (IIV), BSSN’s role as Indonesia’s primary cyber and signal intelligence agency is to oversee and strengthen Indonesia’s cyber security.
The MoU was signed in Jakarta by Lieutenant General (Ret.). Hinsa SIBURIAN, Chief of BSSN, and Mr. Nicolas BOUVEROT, Vice-President for Thales Asia. The signing of this MoU with Thales aligns with the National Cyber Security Strategy (SKSN)’s position to strengthen collaboration with private cyber security companies. SKSN stakeholders consist of state administrators, business actors, academics, and communities.
