Thales and Bertin advance CBRN defence with successful PIABC PELICAN trials in biological sampling and identification
Thales and Bertin have achieved a major milestone in the PIABC PELICAN project with successful government-led trials of biological sampling and identification systems.
Conducted by the DGA’s CBRN unit and involving the 2nd Dragoon Regiment and Air and Space Force, the two-week operation tested the integration of key technologies: COLIBRI, BAG, SAULEIL, SPOT, and GENEXPERT.
“These trials validated four years of development and confirmed the system’s operational maturity,” declared project leaders.
The collaboration highlights Thales’s role as a systems architect for both military and civil CBRN solutions. The campaign also served as a platform for defence stakeholders to align on future CBRN innovations and gather field feedback. Backed by the Defence Innovation Agency, the project exemplifies strong public-private cooperation in advancing next-generation protection against chemical and biological threats.
