Thales Portugal present at UITP 2015 Milan, Italy.

Thales, world leader in transport solutions, was present at the biggest event in public transports worldwide, the biennial UITP World Congress and Exhibition in Milan, Italy, from 8th  to 10th of June.

UITP was the stage for launch the most recently Thales technology, the TransCity, an evolved fare collection solution for public transports.

As a natural evolution of Thales’s proven fare collection solutions, TransCity, a web-oriented technology, simplifies both passengers’ journeys and operators’ day-to-day operations.

With TransCity, Thales redefines the concept of urban travel by providing passengers with a variety of travel passes. In addition to conventional ticket kiosks and automatic vending machines, payments can be processed on-line or on the go, with smartphones, or through newer technologies such as near-field communications (NFC). Operators using TransCity will be able to better manage and supervise their network infrastructure, anticipate potential equipment failures, as well as optimizing their maintenance services.  In addition, with Thales’s big data analysis tools, TransCity can help operators monitor critical periods to better accommodate travelers’ needs such as regulating train traffic or entrance-exit configuration.

The TransCity line consists of five elements – customer, card, fare, traffic management, and business analytics - all of which guarantee both operators and passengers the best possible user experience. In addition, its modular architecture allows operators to choose the combination of products that best respond to their specific infrastructure needs.

Thales Portugal presented their technologies, the passenger information system (APIS - Advanced Passager Information System), EPS (Enhanced Public Security) and its latest innovation the RepTuner.

The APIS solution keeps its potential for passenger information showing that allows the integration of operational data and multimodal transportation, as well as other contents, only a suitable platform to transport several different environments.

The EPS solution was introduced with minor changes in their characteristics and compatibility.

The RepTuner is a tool that performs a continuous characterization of an environment using crowdsourcing. Minimizes the complications of using people as sensors through a mobile application and a website where users can report events in a structured way and a service that processes the events reported step by step creating a continuous evaluation and without loss of reliability information and criticality, through the characterization of the person (staff, type of staff, passenger, passenger type, use, etc.), assessing the consistency of content, identifying the location, identifying and correlating it with another bet for the same period time and place and past events. Providing a pre-filter to the system operator of importance for the events in operation.

Thales showed still have a competitive portfolio on solutions for the transport sector, with the primary mission the increase in capacity and efficiency of transport systems available to more than 100 customers worldwide.
