Important information

  • The Embedded Software (Operating System and applications) loaded in the Security IC shall treat user data as required by the security needs of the specific application context. For example, the Embedded Software shall not disclose security relevant user data (such as cryptographic keys) to unauthorized users or processes when communicating with a terminal.

  • Security procedures shall be used after the delivery of the Security IC up to the delivery to the end-consumer, to maintain confidentiality and integrity of the Security IC and of the associated manufacturing and test data (to prevent any possible copy, modification, retention, theft or unauthorized use). These security procedures shall be enforced by the actors in charge of the manufacturing, pre-personalization and personalization of the composite product (i.e. the final product composed of the Security IC and the Embedded Software).

  • The Security IC contains a Loader to be used by authorized users only. The composite product manufacturer shall protect the Loader functionality against misuse and shall terminate irreversibly the Loader after intended usage of the Loader. Moreover, the Loader operational environment:
    • shall support the authentication verification mechanism
    • shall support the trusted communication channel with the Security IC and fulfill the access conditions required by the Loader.
