Thales Awarded Tactical Control Radar Contract
On June 17, 2021, the Government of Canada announced that Thales has been awarded the Tactical Control Radar (TCR) contract by the Department of National Defence. Under this contract, Thales – working alongside industry partners – will deliver a comprehensive modernized radar system that will support the future mission success of the Royal Canadian Air Force. These systems will be located in Bagotville, Quebec, and Cold Lake, Alberta.
As part of the TCR contract, Thales will procure, install, integrate and support three new Tactical Control Radars systems deployable with a full suite of modernized communications and operator control systems. With an established pedigree in C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) system integration – including being the leading supplier of C4ISR systems to NATO – and over 25 years of successful defence program management experience in the air, naval and ground domains, this system will provide the Royal Canadian Air Force with accurate detection against a vast array of modern-day threats while maintaining a high level of mobility.
"Thales is proud to support the Royal Canadian Air Force with our world-leading C4ISR and systems integration capabilities. Through the Tactical Control Radar program, Thales will deliver increasing digital defence capabilities to Canada to enable our forces to effectively gain and maintain operational superiority.” – Chris Pogue, Vice President and Managing Director, Thales Canada Defence & Security
