Overview

Thales has been present in Poland since 1992 and currently employs more than 280 people. The Group provides its customers with technologically advanced solutions for the Aerospace, Ground Transportation, Defence, Security and Space domains.

Thales is a key player on the Polish market for rail signalling solutions. In cooperation with the Polish industry, Thales proposes its expertise for advanced air defence, tactical vehicles, naval and unmanned aerial solutions for the modernisation of the Polish Armed Forces.

Local cooperation

Thales is committed to collaborating with Polish partners. This is the foundation of the company’s strategy for the Polish market. As a result modern technologies and pioneering solutions developed by the company’s experts continue to be transferred to the Polish market. Examples of such Group activity include, among others, cooperation with Radmor, Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) and WB Electronics. Example of a successful partnership between Thales and Polish industries is provided by its two-decade-long cooperation with Radmor of Gdynia, which led enabled the Polish Armed Forces to be equipped with 10,000 PR4G tactical radios.

Furthermore, Thales is deeply involved in science as well as research and development cooperation with universities and higher education institutions. The company takes part in several partnership programmes with academic institutions in Poland:
  • in 2014, Thales and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków signed a cooperation agreement concerning joint science and research as well as research and development projects connected with the space sector and intelligent transportation systems (ITS). The objectives of the collaboration include supporting the growth of young engineers by enabling their participation in the programme of joint Polish-French PhD studies;
  • in March 2015, Thales and Warsaw University of Technology signed a letter of intent concerning science as well as Research & Development collaboration. The cooperation involves joint developments in the area of air defence, space technologies and unmanned aerial vehicles;
  • in March 2017, Thales and The Cardinal Wyszyński University in Warsaw signed a cooperation agreement concerning joint projects connected with information security and drones;
  • Thales has also concluded cooperation agreements with the Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia, the Military University of Technology in Warsaw and the Kazimierz Pułaski University of Technology and Humanities in Radom.

    In Poland, Thales is involved in the implementation of state-of-the-art rail signalling and control technology on the infrastructure of the domestic administrator.
  • Space in Poland
    One of the main priority areas for Thales in Poland is the space sector. In June 2015, Group opened the new office in Warsaw.
