Inaugurated in 2016, Thales’ 3D metal additive manufacturing (T3DM) in Morocco offers the latest innovations in smart and connected installations as part of the Group's transition to the latest digital and Industry 4.0 technologies.
Defence and Security
Thales has been a partner of the Royal Armed Forces in Morocco for almost 30 years.
Thales systems and equipment are widely used in the Royal Moroccan Air Force, Army, Gendarmerie and Navy. Thales supplies the Royal Moroccan armed forces highly secure communications, optronics (night vision), radars, combat systems and security systems.
Thales in Morocco has developed a regional center of excellence and services specializing in cyber security to help Thales customers meet the challenges of digital transformation and Africa, Europe and other regions.
With more than 25 cyber security consultants, Thales's sixth cyber security operational center (SOC) worldwide is located in Rabat. The cyber security operational centers bring together 24/7 threat detection and analytic capabilities, in accordance with the cyber security infrastructures and policies of the various countries.
Thales is a Tier-1 supplier of avionics and on-board electronics for Boeing and Airbus, as well as a key partner to the national carrier, Royal Air Maroc.
Thales has also provided airfield navigational aids to several airports in the country.
Since 2016, Thales has been a partner of the Mohammed VI International Academy of Civil Aviation as part of air traffic management education and training.
In partnership with the National Railways Office (ONCF), Thales has been supplying signaling systems for the Taourirt-Béni Ansar line and the control system for the Nouaceur-Jorf Lasfar line since 2013.
The consortium between Thales, Huawei and Imet deploys a complete GSM-R mobile communications system on seven lines of the national rail network. The GSM-R system provides communications between trains, wayside inspection systems and control centers.
Identity and biometrics solutions
Thales provided the personalization solution for Moroccan biometric passports, and is the exclusive supplier of eCover for Bank Al-Maghrib.
Since 2005, Thales has also been a trusted partner of national law enforcement agencies supplying and upgrading the national Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) and Facial Recognition System (FRS).
In 2022, Thales, in partnership with Finacards, provided Morocco Bank of Commerce and Industry with the very first biometric payment cards available on the African market.
