Thales Celebrates the UK’s Young Engineer of the Year at The Big Bang Competition
Thales in the UK sponsored the UK Young Engineer of the Year Award at this year’s Big Bang Competition, celebrating outstanding creativity and talent in STEM. Senior leaders, attended the awards to meet finalists and explore innovative projects from across the UK, showcasing impressive ingenuity and problem-solving.
Mike Sewart, Chief Technology Officer, praised the “passion and energy” shown by participants, who developed ideas into real concepts with modest budgets, demonstrated the importance of events like this in inspiring the next generation.
Thales colleagues also supported the competition as judges, contributing their expertise. The Big Bang Fair attracts around 20,000 young people each year, offering hands-on STEM experiences.
Over the past year, Thales has engaged more than 118,000 young people through outreach programmes, helping demystify STEM careers, promote inclusion, and build future skills.
