Thales has supported new flight trials at Cranfield University through the ESA Iris RPAS programme, contributing to industry efforts to build real-world evidence around trusted connectivity for beyond visual line of sight operations.

The trial explored how satellite, terrestrial and secure communications can work together in a multi-link environment to support resilient command-and-control.

As system integrator for Iris, Thales is helping shape a structured, safety-led approach to future uncrewed aviation, where trusted connectivity will be essential to wider airspace integration.
