Team Thales Tallies a Successful Weekend of Cycling
Team Thales notched a successful weekend of cycling and teamwork, tallying hundreds of miles at this weekend’s Air Force Association’s Cycling Classic around Washington, D.C.
For the second year, Thales USA was the sponsor of the Corporate Challenge ride, which included teams from many of the large companies in the D.C.-area. Team Thales in Washington, which consisted of 12 riders from Thales USA, ASD, ASW, Thales Components Corp., Thales Defense and Security, and Thales Transport and Security, completed 59 laps around the 15-km course. All together, the team completed more than 530 miles and collectively rode for more than 30 hours. Among the corporate teams in the race, Thales placed 10th (out of 25 teams) in overall laps. The top Team Thales finisher was Teresa Amundson from Thales USA; she completed 6 laps in 2:39:23.18. Bronze, silver, and gold medals were awarded for riders who can complete 2, 4, or 6 laps within the 3-hour race. Team Thales recorded 3 golds; 7 silvers; and 2 bronzes.
“The Air Force Cycling Classic provided an excellent opportunity for Thales to connect with our Air Force customer, engage our employees in supporting community we serve and create a Team Thales environment for all our employees to participate in either as an athlete or as a spectator,”
-Susanne Reed, VP of Communications at Thales USA.
Three parallel Thales cycling events took place in Irvine, CA; Melbourne, FL; and Denver, CO. The teams completing the “virtual Cycling Classic” around the country matched the Washington team’s distance and/or duration, and bringing the total Team Thales cyclists to about 30 nationwide.
