Supplier Relations
Sustainable Procurement
With purchasing making up almost half of Thales' revenue, a strong commitment to responsible sourcing is essential.
The six Thales priorities
Thales’ Sustainable Procurement policy sets out clear commitments based on six key pillars:
-
A responsible member of society
Thales believes that trust-based relationships with suppliers are essential to its success and underpins its long-term growth and development.
-
Quality relationships
Thales establishes cooperative relationships with its partners based on mutual good faith.
-
Promoting innovation
Procurement plays a key role in further enhancing Thales’ potential for innovation by harnessing the expertise of its ecosystem of suppliers.
-
Climate change
Thales is committed to addressing the significant challenge of climate change through its activities and services, particularly via its strategy for a Low-Carbon Future, which is aligned with the 2°C objective of the Paris Agreement.
-
Think globally and act locally
Thales’ customers operate in increasingly complex environments and have global footprints, so it’s important for us to fully understand their business challenges, strategic objectives and operating needs.
-
Solidarity and progress
In France, Entreprises Adaptées (EA) and Etablissements et Services d’Aide par le Travail (ESAT) are third-sector organisations that play a key role by promoting workplace inclusion for people with disabilities.
We included CSR criteria in the selection process for suppliers bidding for major Group contracts and have steps to help employees assess our business partners.
By building a more responsible supply chain, we’re ensuring the businesses we work with play their part in shaping a sustainable, low-carbon future.Sylvain Masiero - VP, Sustainable Procurement
Sustainable Procurement Label
Thales received the Supplier Relations and Sustainable Procurement Label in 2015, which was renewed in 2025 for a period of three years.
This distinction honours companies or public entities maintaining sustainable and balanced relationships with their suppliers, by meeting the commitments outlined in the Supplier Relations and Sustainable Procurement charter and implementing the recommendations of ISO 20400, the international standard for responsible procurement.
