Space
Strengthening Luxembourg's space ambitions and Europe's leadership in advanced digital space technologies
We are committed to strengthening Europe’s leadership in space innovation by leveraging cutting-edge digital technologies. Thales Alenia Space Luxembourg, created with the support of the Luxembourg Ministry of the Economy and the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA), serves as a Digital Competence Centre focused on advanced space solutions for institutional, commercial, and defence users. Our expert and creative teams combine digital expertise to design, develop, and industrialise solutions for space systems, both on the ground and in orbit.
Our product portfolio features: a secure digital platform for EO applications, Digital Twin of the Earth components addressing flooding, agriculture, and climate change impacts, the 3D visualisation globe Orthoglobe, and advanced data fusion engines for multi-sensors analytics including hyperspectral, optical, and radar EO sources, as well as an Edge Computing PaaS proof of concept. We are also developing KPI monitoring solutions for Space for Sustainable Finance, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and innovation. These solutions serve a broad spectrum of civil, defence, dual-use applications.
We support SES on four flagship projects based on the Space Inspire platform (SES 26, Astra 1P/1Q, IS 41/44) and strengthen Europe’s flexible and competitive telecom satellite infrastructure through ESA’s Novacom 2 project. We also advance the European Destination Earth and Digital Twin Earth initiatives through several EO projects.

Defence & Security
Supporting Luxembourg's defence modernisation and collective european security across land and space domains
As a strategic partner for the Command, Liaison, and Reconnaissance Vehicle (CLRV) programme, we support Luxembourg’s defence modernisation by delivering 80 next-generation digital combat vehicles. In collaboration with GDELS and FN Herstal under the coordination of the NSPA, we equip the Luxembourg Armed Forces with a comprehensive suite of Thales technologies, including common vetronics, secure communications, CONTACT software-defined radios, perimeter vision, self-protection, and navigation systems. Designed for high-intensity and collaborative combat operations, the CLRV is more than a vehicle—it is a digital combat platform that enhances operational awareness, decision-making, and mission effectiveness.
By contributing to several EDA CapTech projects, Thales Alenia Space is actively reinforcing national and European defence capabilities with the development of advanced digital technologies. We are working on data fusion engines for analytics across multiple EO sensor modalities—including hyperspectral, optical, and radar—providing vital intelligence to support defence and security operations. We are also bringing our system architect competence on the Digital Twin Earth for Defence (DTE4DS) project, which demonstrates our commitment to next-generation situational awareness, modelling, and accelerated decision-making. With the 2025 contract signed with GovSat for the GovSat‑2 defence communications satellite, we are ensuring secure and resilient space‑based communications for government and military use.
