In Defence, Thales has signed several contracts with the Serbian Ministry of Defence for the supply of HF and VHF tactical radios since 2008.
Thales is the main supplier of the SMATSA (Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency) for the control center and associated equipment (radars, simulators) since 2007. In 2020, despite the COVID-19 situation, Thales was awarded a new contract for the modernisation of its air traffic control center and the purchase of civil radars. As part of the modernization of Belgrade airport, Thales has been chosen by VINCI as the supplier of ILS (Instrument Landing System).
In January 2025, Thales won the contract to modernize SMATSA’s air navigation infrastructure, introducing advanced software and features designed to optimize air traffic flow, maximize runway capacity, and minimize delays with Thales’ Topsky - ATC Upgraded solution.
Furthermore, Thales is a supplier to the Serbian National Bank.
