For 60 years, Thales has contributed to Mexico’s development, playing a crucial role in building a robust and secure technological infrastructure, contributing to the modernization of key sectors such as Defence, Aerospace and Cyber and Digital.

Thales currently employs around 1,300 people in the country and maintains a significant industrial presence with two production and customization centers for payment cards, SIM cards and eSIM cards located in Iztapalapa and Cuernavaca, one Air Traffic Management Services Center, and a Cyber Academy for cybersecurity training in Mexico City.

Defence

Thales supports nations and their armed forces with advanced technologies and services across land, sea, and air to address evolving threats, focusing on innovations such as cybersecurity and AI for strategic advantages. In Mexico, Thales has built trust over 60 years by providing locally-serviced, high-quality defense products and systems. 

The company is a long-standing supplier to the Mexican Navy, delivering equipment such as combat systems, radars, surveillance, and integrating third-party technologies. Thales also supplies night vision equipment for the Navy’s aerial operations, designed to equip the Panther helicopter crew.

SEMAR (Navy Secretary) chose the Group to provide and integrate a multitude of defense sensors for its Long Range Ocean Patrol (POLA) Reformer class ARM Reformer 101 vessel including the TACTICOS combat system, SMART-S MK2 radar, STIR fire control director, Gatekeeper 360° electrooptical surveillance system, and CAPTAS-2 variable depth sonar. 

For SEDENA (National Defence Secretary), Thales is working on different projects, including air sovereignty topics, such as ammunition and rockets to the Mexican Army for Cougar helicopters.

Civil Aviation

Thales is the country’s leading supplier of civil air traffic management systems. The Group has been a privileged partner of the Mexican navigation authority SENEAM (Air Navigation Services in Mexican Airspace) for 60 years, providing the TOPSKY systems for the four air traffic control centres in Mexico (Mexico City, Mérida, Mazatlán, Monterrey), the 12 approach centres, 25 of the 28 civil radars, as well as several navigation support systems.

Thales in Mexico hosts the Integration Centre for Air Traffic Management Solutions serving the entire Latin America region. The Group is in charge of 100% of the air traffic management for the Mexican airspace and its civil radars cover 85% of the country's territory. From Mexico, Thales serves more than 30 countries in the region with Air Traffic solutions.
