Thales delivers SIRIUS, the third series USV under the MMCM programme, to the French Navy
Thales has reached a new milestone in the MMCM (Maritime Mine Counter Measures) programme with the delivery of SIRIUS, the third series USV (Unmanned Surface Vehicle) for the French Navy, out of a total of six units planned.
This delivery reflects the steady progress of the programme and confirms the ramp-up of a new-generation mine warfare capability, designed to meet the increasingly demanding requirements of modern naval operations.
In a strategic environment where freedom of manoeuvre at sea, secure access to maritime areas, and crew protection are critical priorities, the MMCM programme is helping reshape mine countermeasure operations through systems that are more autonomous, more effective, and safer to operate.
With SIRIUS, Thales continues to support the French Navy with innovative, sovereign and mission-ready capabilities designed to address today’s and tomorrow’s operational challenges.
Conducted under the management of OCCAR and industry-led by Thales, this Franco-British programme positions France and the United Kingdom as global pioneers. With a total of five systems already delivered to the French Navy and the Royal Navy, these navies are the first in the world to be equipped with such systems for the protection and security of seaways.
