Modern vehicles increasingly contain an array of safety, navigation and infotainment systems, with significant data demands to work effectively. The connected car is now an IoT device, requiring reliable connectivity at scale via eSIMs. It must be secure and operable around the world, and compliant to agreed GSMA standards.

What’s more, automakers also need ways to spin up and manage hundreds of thousands – or even millions – of these eSIM deployments embedded in their vehicles, throughout their lifetime.

Earlier this year, Cubic³, a leading global provider of Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) solutions partnered with Thales to address the rising need for smart and efficient connectivity that matches the latest GSMA eSIM SGP.32 standard.

In this articleCubic³’s Senior SIM Engineering leader Julie Gibb and Thales’ Marketing Director for Automotive, Florent Abat, discuss what this latest GSMA IoT standard means for automakers and the connected car going forwards.
