Thales invests in its Kiel site to expand its naval activities in Germany

On April 25, 2024, Thales Germany had the honour, together with the Mayor of the city of Kiel, of breaking ground for a new building in the Kiel district of Wik, aimed at expanding its naval activities.This new infrastructure will enable close cooperation between Thales and the German Navy as part of the F126 project, led by Damen as prime contractor. Completion is scheduled for autumn 2025 and represents an investment of 13 million euros, along with the creation of 40 new jobs.

Thales is making a strategic move to further expand its naval activities in Germany. At its Kiel site, the company is building an additional complex.

Renate Treutel, Mayor of Kiel, Julia Carstens, State Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Labour, Technology, and Tourism of Schleswig-Holstein, and Dr. Christina Schubert, Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of Kiel Economic Development Corporation (KiWi), together with Christoph Ruffner, CEO of Thales Germany, jointly conducted the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony today.

KIWI Tower GmbH, based in Kiel, is developing a new four-story building for Thales, which has been located in Kiel-Wik since September 2019. The new building offers a gross floor area of around 3,500 m², including approximately 1,700 m² dedicated integration space, operational and logistics areas, modern open-plan office space, and a spacious rooftop terrace. Completion is planned for autumn 2025. The investment amounts to approximately 13 million euros.
