Thales is a historical and strategic partner of the three Armed Forces of Chile: Army, Navy, and Air Force. The company provides unique solutions for the needs of air defence, submarine sonar, and other communication systems. Thales and ASMAR (Chilean Navy Shipyards and Workshops) jointly participated in major submarine modernization projects for Chile and Ecuador.

Civil Aviation

Thales is also a historical partner of the of DGAC (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) in Chile, supplying and replacing primary and secondary radars, as well as installing navigation aid equipment and modernizing the Santiago Air Traffic Control. In addition, Thales is responsible for the implementation of the world's first 100% solar powered radar station, run by 340 solar panels, located in Calama, in northern Chile built for the Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC). Thales is also provider of 75% of air traffic management radar systems in the country.

Space

Thales Alenia Space offers institutions, governments, companies and operators a wide range of space solutions – satellites, ground segments, end-to-end-systems – for telecommunications, satellite navigation, earth observation, science and space exploration.

The Group participated in the Atacama Large Millimetre/sub-millimetre Array (ALMA) project, delivering 25 parabolic antennas for the largest radio telescope ever built.
