Overview

Thales has been present in the Sultanate of Oman for over 35 years and employs 135 people in the country.
The relationship between Oman and Thales dates back to the end of the 70’s when the first radio communications equipment was delivered to the Sultanate. Ever since then, Thales has been involved in a broad spectrum of activities and has partnered with a wide variety of customers including, the Ministry of Transport and Communication (MOTC), Oman Air, the Omani Armed Forces and the Security Agencies of Oman.
Today, Thales provides its customers with technologically advanced solutions for the aerospace, transportation, defence and security domains. Early 2014, the Group inaugurated new offices in the Al Tilal Complex at the Musat Grand Mall, a decision driven by growth opportunities in the region.

Local cooperation

In Oman, Thales is continuously developing its local cooperation for key programmes that the Group is involved in. The new offices in Muscat Grand Mall and the Airport site office highlight the ambition to increase local operational capabilities, mainly serving security, ground transportation and aerospace projects. Thales is setting up capabilities to grow in programme management, supply chain management and services.

Activities

  • Defence in Oman
    In 2012 Thales has been awarded a contract to supply sensors and a combat management system for Royal Navy of Oman Al-Ofouq patrol vessels build by the Singaporean shipyard ST-Marine.
  • Security in Oman
    In March 2015, Thales has been selected by the Ministry of Transport & Communications of Oman for the full deployment of an integrated security solution for Muscat International Airport and Salalah’s new airport.
  • Aerospace in Oman
    In 2010, Thales has been awarded a contract by the Ministry of Transport & Communications of the Sultanate of Oman to supply, install and commission navigation aids systems.
