    About the role:

    The Network Design Support Engineer will be responsible for supporting installation design and installation of the Communication and Central Control System to be delivered for the Sydney Metro Northwest Project. Your knowledge of Huawei network equipment would be a great benefit, however not essential.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • You will be responsible for providing key support to Network installation and support and lead the Network Set-to-Work.
    • Coordination with System Interface Managers & Test Team to ensure Network based Communications systems are successfully integrated
    • Provide technical support to the installation contractor teams during site implementation for fast resolution of any Network construction issues encountered.
    • Inspection on the quality of Network installation and raise any non-conformances to the installation sub-contractor if necessary.
    • Seek and ensure all Network non-conformance during installation are corrected before transitioning to the Test and Commissioning Team and support the production of as-built Network & Cable drawings post install.
    • Support the transition activities between the Install team to Test and Commissioning and Maintenance

    Key Skills and Experience:

    • Degree of Engineering in the field of Telecommunications/ Electrical/ Network
    • Experience in leading and/or participating in installation of large scale networks with a minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a relevant engineering organisation.
    • Experience identifying, assessing & addressing Telecommunications  & Network  issues relating to installations of cabling and equipment in greenfield sites.
    • Understand the relevant standards associated with Network installation design for the system to be delivered

    Reporting to the Technical Director, the Head of Technology and Innovation will be responsible for the identification, development and adoption of new technologies within the Thales Transportation Systems business in the UK.

    This is an opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer – Networks with Thales to be working on the 4LM Programme. This is technical lead role rather than a management role and we are looking for someone who wants to develop their skills in a fast paced and dynamic environment.


    This is a full time, permanent position based in our offices in West Ferry Circus, Canary Wharf. The salary for this position is £60,000 -£65,000 per year dependent on experience. The closing date for applications is Monday 4th September 2017.


    Key responsibilities & Tasks:

    • Lead the UK aspect of configuration of, troubleshooting and fault finding of network devices and servers.
    • Support integration, validation, verification and qualification activities for the 4LM network.
    • Define network test tools and procedures to support the above.
    • Undertaking data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources.
    • Determine and implement a strategy for managing the 4LM network. This is anticipated to include:
    • Work with the customer to produce an operations strategy (e.g. alarms, trending and traffic monitoring)
    • Software configuration management and updating of network devices
    • Work with the internal software team to develop our trending solution
    • Provide technical support for assessing and developing mitigations against cyber security threats

    Job Purpose:

    Responsible for the day-to-day execution of the CM activities. The Configuration Management Analyst reports to the Manager, Configuration Management as a component of their assigned functional role.

    • Work with engineering teams to ensure the correct and accurate identification of documents, configuration items, parts, components, and assets, and baselines.

    Key Skill Requirements:

    The successful candidate should be working towards an Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science degree or equivalent; possess good written and oral communication skills, familiarity with project work environment.

    • Knowledge of Systems Engineering or Configuration Management theories/processes an advantage
