Land C4ISR Capabilities

The ability to obtain, gather, process and distribute information effectively is key to gaining and maintaining operational superiority. Thales delivers mission-critical solutions that keep forces connected and equipped to stay ahead of any threat.

We provide the Canadian Armed Forces with trusted, battle-proven, secure communication and information systems that support the transmission of mission-critical data. Our advanced data solutions enable users to collect, analyze, and share information in real-time — from domestic command centers to deployed units around the globe, aligned to NATO standards and interoperability.

In support of our work with the Canadian Army, Thales established the National Digital Excellence Centre to  enable collaborative development of advanced cyber and digital technologies, test and enhance capabilities and strengthen Canada’s collective cyber resilience with a focus on defence and security. Together we’re building a strong, secure and resilient national infrastructure.

Soldier optronics

From hand-held thermal imagers to lightweight weapon sights, NATO forces, including Canada, rely on Thales soldier optronics to see without being seen and keep front-line soldiers safe and in constant contact with the command chain and other units in the field. As part of the Night Vision Systems Modernization (NVSM) program, the Thales Sophie Ultima Handheld Thermal Imager (HHTI) is one example of how Canadian Armed Forces are equipped with technology proven to excel in complex and challenging operational environments.

Vehicle Optronics

The Thales Uncooled Optronics Centre of Excellence is the only facility in Canada dedicated to both soldier and vehicle optronics manufacturing. The facility specializes in manufacturing infrared imagers for targeting, driver vision enhancement cameras and 360-degree situational awareness systems that land forces around the world rely on to help them complete their missions safely and effectively, in a wide range of battlespace environments. Our comprehensive solutions for land-based platforms enable users to detect, identify and engage hostile forces at tactical or long range, day and night, while maintaining a high level of situational awareness and user security.

Ground-based Radars

Thales advanced GM200 series radars are equipped to address multiple requirements in a single multi-mission radar. The radars are NATO interoperable and arctic-proven, with a global sustainment capability that ensures efficient and mission-ready support. Mission capabilities include:

  • Counter-RAM (rockets, artillery, mortars)
  • Counter-UAS (unmanned aerial systems)
