- Thales is a European leader for cryocoolers used in space. More than 130 space cryocoolers were delivered with more than 2.5 million flight hours. For instance, the International Space Station has several of our coolers installed. Thanks to our advanced crycooler technology, we can eliminate the need for moving parts in most parts of our coolers, essentially making it wear-free and giving it a nearly infinite lifespan. This is crucial in space, where maintenance can be very tricky – and costly!
