Thales’s conventional minehunting sonars use different frequency bands and pulse types to switch between wide-area detection and high-resolution classification. This delivers solid performance in a single sonar system and means you can support multiple mission types. It also enables you to optimise performance across different environments and be more agile in tactical responses.

Thales sonar systems are designed for complex waters, such as those with variable temperature. Some are depth adjustable, while hull-mounted sonars use software-based solutions to optimise performance through the water column. This combined with advanced data management, and automated detection and classification, gives navies better detection rates, fewer missed threats and results that are more reliable.

Our sonar systems are designed for automated detection and classification and, drawing on Thales-updated sea mine libraries and environmental models, they can accurately detect and rank threats in real time.
