Defence

The Hungarian Air Force has been operating the Thales Helicopter Mission Trainer "HMT" at Szolnok Air Base since 2018. This version draws on the EDITH system of the French Army. Using this solution, Hungarian Air Force crew can train collectively in a range of tactical scenarios, including combat search and rescue, air, land and naval operations or even command insertion / extraction. Thales also supports the MoD with Ground Air Ground (GAG) communication programmes led by NATO.

Civil Aviation

Thales is a long-standing partner and the main supplier of Hungary Control for the control center and associated equipment, which includes radars, Navigational Aids (NAVAIDs) and continuous modernisation of the centre. Moreover, Thales is partnering with HungaroControl and Searidge Technologies for a collaborative development of more sophisticated remote tower concepts.

Space

Since Hungary joined ESA in 2015, Thales has been collaborating with the Hungarian industry and getting involved in “geographic return”. Today, Thales is considered a long-term partner with the Hungarian industry, the first milestone being the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Thales Alenia Space in November 2021.

The agreement thus consolidates Thales' cooperation with Hungarian companies, which have jointly developed new solutions for the space market that are now integrated into its value chain. The partnership also contributes to developing local talent in the space industry.

Cyber & Digital

Thales Cyber & Digital main business activities in Hungary are related to banking and payment services, solutions for telecommunication as well as cloud protection and advanced encryption.

The world of financial services is changing fast and consumers are looking for ever more personalised, convenient and secure ways to pay, communicate and interact with their banks and accounts. Thales provides the Hungarian banking sector with a wide range of secure digital banking, cards and digital payment solutions meeting and exceeding these demands. Moreover, Thales supplies the telecom sector with SIM cards, MIM cards and services for eSIM.
