Thales has developed the most advanced Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning System (HTAWS) to enhance flight safety and prevent accidents. Leveraging its expertise in helicopter operations, including medical evacuation and law enforcement, Thales has integrated over 20 patented technologies into this groundbreaking solution.

HTAWS provides timely cautions and warnings to pilots, significantly reducing the risk of collisions. It utilizes three specialized databases—airports, obstacles, and terrain—incorporating high-accuracy Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) data and Thales’ proprietary mapping technologies.

Thales has a strong history in Terrain Awareness and Warning Systems (TAWS), supplying avionics solutions for Boeing, ATR, and Bombardier aircraft. More than 2,000 aircraft operate daily with Thales TAWS, with over 400 software licenses delivered annually.
